Workout Camps

BASKETBALL TRAINING & WORKOUT CAMPS

We call our camps “Workout Camps” because they are not your normal “picture taking, rotate through stations” type of camps. When a player comes to our camp they will experience much of the same advanced teaching and instruction as we offer at Nike Skill Academies and NBA pre-draft workouts, but broken down in a progressive form that every player can handle.

Campers will develop the basics all week and compete in 2 on 2, 3 on 3, and 4 on 4 before playing 5 on 5. They will also participate in a film session daily to watch the teaching points and moves they have learned. Participants will need to bring a notebook and a pen to every camp or workout they attend.

Ideally, only Jeff Harris Basketball Certified Trainers are selected as staff for our local and travel workout camps. We work in small numbers, with no more than eight – ten kids at each basket and with a ratio of eight – ten campers to each staff member. And each participant has a ball during every drill!

Ideal for weekend, Christmas, spring /Easter breaks, team camps, and summer camps.

Jeff Harris or any one of our staff or Group Members are available to run your camp today!

CAMP STRUCTURE

70% of the camp activity is drillwork to improve triple threat, dribble triple threat, creating space with the dribble and out of the triple threat, NBA dribble moves, shot mechanics, intense shooting, moving without the ball, finishing, footwork to finish, jumproping, motion, reading the defense, and decision making.

15% of the camp activity is film study session to illustrate the individual skills. Clips from the best players in basketball are broken down and studied so that the workout attendees can visually learn as well. Film session is an hour everyday and campers are required to take notes.

15% of the camp activity is game play. This is where the attendees can practice what they have learned in a game atmosphere. Games are 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4 and 5 on 5.

  • Decision making, situational passing, weak hand passing, we also cover aspects players need to know when running the point, playing the wing, or the post.
  • 5 on 5 games – Campers have to play under controlled guidelines.  They have to play through the post, execute ball screens, execute pinch post or floppy sets, before they can score.   These are great assets to our camps.

1.  JHBB Team Camps

  • We run the most efficient and practical team camps out there today.  Why take your team to a huge college “Name” camp where your team will just be a number?  Your kids will play games and have fun, but will they get better?  Will they be inspired?  Will they be educated and learn something new?  Will they get a chance to work on their skills? Will they expand their game?  We can provide that and answer yes to all these questions.  Break the norm for one time and bring your team to us.  You will get your money worth when you bring your players to our camp.  Below is the daily schedule:
  • Camps might last 3-5 days, depending on your time and budget

                            1.  9am-12pm Skill Development

Skills Academies/Clinics

Written by Administrator. Posted in Jeff Harris Basketball

JHBB offers some of the most exceptional intense skill academies in the world. Our clinics and academies are an unforgettable lifetime experience. They are 1-3 days in length based on your time and budget. They cover one or all positions. Listed below are the types of skill academies we offer:

1. Skills Select Exposure Event
This is becoming our most popular event because if gives players a great combo of skills workouts and recruiting exposure. This is where scouting services and college scouts rank, evaluate, and recruit players at our event.

Skills Select Exposure Events are designed to offer the player EVERYTHING he or she needs to gain exposure and to succeed. This new concept is completely authentic and will provide the attendees with Skill Work and Games! Players will also participate in classroom and round table discussions, lectures, and film sessions that cover everything from nutrition, game breakdowns, recruiting, and much more. In addition, these Events will change the way the basketball world looks at Exposure. The Skill Select Events will offer a unique opportunity to develop the total player and the total person. Total Competition hours is 3, including at least 1 hour of Competition during Skills and Drills. Skill Hours is at least 2-3. Scouting Services on hand.

  • Three day skill workout
  • Usually on weekends
  • Sample schedule looks like this

               -Friday 5pm-8pm

  • In these three day skill weekend we work on individual offensive skills, offensive separation and moves, motion breakdown drills with reading and reacting, 3on3on3 controlled games, and film session breakdown of college and pro players executing the skills that we just taught in their game situation.  Every player has a ball, a tennis ball, and a jump rope.  Every player is required to take notes.
  • Ideally we would like 6 players to a basket, however we accept no more than 10 per basket.
  • A JHBB trainer directs the academy and one coach works each basket.
  • After three days, players are motivated, inspired, and educated to work on their game at home

2.  Junior Boys All-American Camp

This is very similar to the skill select event; this is a skill academy for the elite Middle School and High School aged boys.  The players are invited on a referral basis only by Nike scouts, various scouting services, and grassroot coaches.  This two day event is filled with high level skill development instruction, 3 on 3 motion breakdown and 5 on 5 competitive controlled scrimmages.  Our goal is to improve very good players skills to make them great.  We want to help get players to another level with physical and mental skills.  Another goal is to find the next great players and all-americans with the help of the scouting services.  Players who attend get educated on the game, improve their skills, and test their skills with great competition.  They get ranked, evaluated, receive great exposure, and get one step closer to being put on the “College Coaches Map.”  Staff included is Jeff Harris, JHBB Trainers, and college players. Sample schedule looks like this:

               -Saturday 9am-3pm
               -Sunday 9am-3pm
